Sanity. February has me losing mine.

These dreary February days have me browsing my summer archives.

Please enjoy these surprisingly artsy photos of me taken by my new Indian friend who talked to me on the street and followed me into the museum. He gave me his email afterwords, so I guess you could say things are getting pretty serious. Except he didn't tell me I had brownie remnants on my face, so we're fighting.

ET has great aesthetic taste.  Enough Byzantine altarpieces to last for several galaxies.
(Though never enough Rothko.)

You're not forgotten, scarf balls.

 photo IMG_4123.jpg

So here's the thing about October in the District.
It feels a little bit like cheating.

Early in the month I unwadded my scarves, fretting about the certain frost soon to come.  But then pleasant day followed pleasant day, and I continue to wear gray v-necks unshrouded in any additional layers.  My scarves have become re-wadded in that space between my bed and the wall and all in all I feel like October deserves a medal.

During my visit to Utah mid-September, leaves were already starting to change. Out here we're mid-October and the green is holding steady.

+ my favorite riverside view.   evenings feature excessively aggressive ducks and/or yachts.

+ I can't believe it's taken me so long to eat at one of José Andres's restaurants. Who am I kidding. Of course I can believe it. Because 2 ounces of food will cost you an elbow and a knee.  BUT.  JALEO??!  WORTH IT.  I am sold on tapas.

Keep on keepin on, October baby!

Musings on a Tuesday.

 I found a note I'd written on the way home from work last June.  June 10, 2014, if we're dealing with precision here. It was titled Musings on a Tuesday, and it contained nothing much of importance.

I wrote about the new shoes I ordered online being too big, as they always are. About how I wanted to have more developed and informed political convictions; about the Native American man strumming his guitar in the metro station; about the route I had worn into the escalator from the daily commuting routine.

And, as far as I'm concerned, that's a summary of June.

// discovering my new favorite cookie shop on M street
// Georgetown is always a stunner.

June was Sundays at the Smithsonians, like the Freer Gallery. MAJOR SWOON.
 photo june6.jpg

June was massive Asian karaoke meet ups, crepes before work, and Old Town Alexandria.  JUNE WAS FRIENDS, people.  Don't you just want friends in June?

June: food edition.

//Indian spice during guys' night
// 2a.m. Ben + Jerry's slash OJ runs
// eating fried rice out of a pineapple, because JUNE!
// bonus:  store bought sushi because being recently graduated is #glam

Because June is when I realized I could fall in love with a city.
And that that may be just as important as loving a person.  More so! Cities never hurt your feelings.  Well, only sometimes. Like when the Red line takes 92098 hours or you can't find a public bathroom.

World cup and roller coasters and the most bleached hair.  Also, Austrian embassy event.

June was so June-y last year.

the darling buds of May, or whatever whatever.

(Guess what's so great?
I'll tell you.
It's so great that this is my blog, so I can start this space by posting 8 months after the fact and it's acceptable. Breaking social norms! Let's do this!)

It's all very, very exciting, I assure you.
